A FOOD group to support Northumberland’s producers has served up a range of extra benefits for members.

Northumbria Larder has announced a revamp of its services to provide more business support, as well as extension of it membership offer.

From next month, the group will invite those in hospitality, food service, retail, wholesale and catering to join up, while members will soon be able to take advantage of cost saving offers and new business development tools.

Chairman Henry Roberts said: “There has never been a more important time for businesses to be a member of Northumbria Larder.

“These are challenging economic times for everyone and having the safety net of access to strong support packages, practical industry advice and savings, specific to the food sector, will make a real difference to businesses and their performance.”

He added: “This move forward in our membership criteria will enable us to work with, support and champion an even greater proportion of those involved in the food and drink sector — one of the north east’s most valuable, vibrant and growing industries.”

Among the new services being offered will be a regularly updated business directory, access to practical industry advice, seminars, an ‘ask the expert’ service and savings from suppliers on advertising, marketing material, design and print, insurance and utility bills.

A new website will function as an information hub.

Northumbria Larder General Manager Sandy Duncan said: “Being a member of Northumbria Larder will help businesses save time, save money, promote their products and services and tap into new businesses opportunities through quality networking and supply opportunities, as well as having access to a continually updated technical and legal information resource.”
