A BOUTIQUE country house in Northumberland has appointed a new general manager.

Having spent 14 years in the hotel industry, Mark Alderson is a highly experienced hotelier, with a reputation for excellence. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge, which will be key in his new role.

In the short time since Eshott Hall opened its doors as a luxury country house, the hotel has established a reputation for offering outstanding standards of food, accommodation and service.

Mr Alderson said: “I am delighted to be returning to the North East to what is going to be a diverse role.

“Eshott is one of Northumberland’s hidden gems and my aim is to truly put the hotel on the map, both locally and nationally. We have a fantastic team of staff and we will work together to build on the success that has already been achieved to take this magnificent property to the next level.

“The standard of dining at Eshott is fantastic, with our menus focusing on local produce, much of which is from our own kitchen garden.”

The hall was totally refurbished in 2010. Today it has 11 bedrooms, an AA Rosette Restaurant, private dining and conferencing for up to 100 guests and three luxury cottages.

It is regularly used as an exclusive use venue for weddings, private parties and corporate events.

Upon announcing the appointment, group operations director Eric Kortenbach said: “I am delighted to have someone of Mark’s calibre on board.

“With his background and many years’ experience in the luxury hotel market, he is the ideal candidate to develop the business.”
