A mentoring network launched by businesswomen across the North East is stepping up its efforts to help nurture the next generation of female executives.
The Northumbrian network, called Find Your Future, was founded by Jacqui Henderson last year to work with schools, colleges and youth groups across the county.
It seeks to raise the confidence and ambitions of young women and help them to achieve their career ambitions.
It now has a membership of more than 40 professional women working in engineering, manufacturing, marketing, health, education and the public sector and meets every other month at Kirkley Hall, near Ponteland.
Jacqui, formerly managing director of the old Northumberland Training and Enterprise Council, said: “Research undertaken in 2012 by Newcastle University and Northumberland County Council largely revealed that lack of confidence and self-belief often act as barriers to young women achieving their career aspirations.
“We’re aiming to break down these barriers by utilising the vast collective experience and knowledge of the successful North East role models within our network.”
The network launches its flagship Find Your Voice, Find Your Future campaign this month and will run workshops and coaching sessions, as well as arranging work-experience placements.

Jacqui added: “I am delighted to have attracted so many executive women from across the region who are committed to being part of this initiative.
“I’m hoping that others who feel passionately about improving future opportunities for young women will want to join us.
“Our mission is to encourage and facilitate more apprenticeship and employment opportunities for young women to help deliver a diverse and skilled workforce in the region.”
