Restaurants are hot stuff

AWARD success could be on the menu for two Northumberland restaurants.

Tandoor Mahal in Morpeth and Char Mausum in Stannington are once again on the shortlist in the Bangladesh Caterers’ Association (BCA) Best Caterer of the Year Award.

The competition celebrates the entrepreneurial talent of British Bangladeshi restaurants and takeaways in all regions of the UK.

Char Mausum, just off the A1, has received regional awards in the past.

Traditional Indian and Kashmiri food is also available and as its name is Hindi for four seasons, special meals celebrate changes in the year.

Tandoor Mahal in Bridge Street has been in business for 30 years and offers an extensive range of traditional Bangladeshi and Indian cuisine.

The combinations of herbs and spices vary from region to region and make each dish unique.

The competition awards ceremony will take place on Sunday at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel in London.
