BUSY brides could be raising a glass to a new business venture as it offers a one-stop wedding shop.

Seven businesses are coming together to offer the unique 42 Bridge Street Weddings service in Morpeth.

The venture brings together several experts in the industry to help brides and grooms plan almost every aspect of their big days.

It includes bridalwear Kathryn S Trueman, Adamskii Photography, Adamskii Photobooth, Black Stripe Events dressing service, Demoiselle House of Lingerie and Corsetry, K Beautique beauty and weight-loss service, and Wiggle and Gilbert Menswear.

The partnership has been largely formed as a family venture.

Kathryn Trueman had initially started her career making wedding dresses, but left to join the legal profession. She later went back into the bridal business, offering designer dresses from £700 to £5,000, as well as bridesmaids’ dresses, shoes and accessories.

Her son Adam Barr set up a photography business next door in Newgate Street, but when the Bridge Street premises became available the pair were able to move in together.

Mr Barr’s wife Emily, who had long helped out in the business, then joined full-time and helped to establish the lingerie side of it.

And after beautician Kate Sparrow bought her own wedding dress from the shop she began to work alongside the team and has now joined formally with K Beautique.

The family then reacted to demand from brides to establish the photo booth, event dressing and menswear hire services.

Mrs Barr said: “We did have a tiny shop in Newgate Street and the photography business was next door, but in a separate building. When the Bridge Street shop came up Kathryn was desperate to have it and we moved in.

“It is such a big building that we have been trying to find ways of filling it, but the creation of the one-stop shop has been very organic really, just as a result of reacting to demand.

“We were being asked by brides where they could get their nice underwear from to go under their lovely dresses so we thought they may as well be able to get it here. It was the same with the menswear and the other services.”

All of the businesses are independent, with their own individual prices, but they can come together to offer a special package when more than one service is booked.

Ms Trueman said: “Our aim was to create the ‘Harvey Nicks’ of the wedding world and I think we have hit the target.

“We offer dresses from top designers, including Terry Fox, who has just won Wedding Designer of the Year.”

42 Bridge Street Weddings will be hosting regular events, from catwalk shows to exclusive wedding fairs.

The next event is a Summer Spectacular Designer Sample Sale on Saturday, August 10 and Sunday, August 11, when there will be special offers and big discounts available.
