Staff at Sanderson Arcade in Morpeth are flushed with pride after unveiling their newly refurbished toilets.

And shoppers using the brand new loos on the ground floor at Austin House can now admire some of the beautiful scenery and buildings of the North East when they spend a penny.

Cubicles in both the ladies and gent’s toilets at the centre have been fitted with stunning feature walls showing some of the region’s most iconic images – including the Whitley Bay lighthouse, Blyth Beach Huts and Bamburgh Castle.

Underfloor heating has also been fitted as part of the refurbishment as well as sensor lighting, making the toilets more energy efficient.

The Arcade toilets have won accolades in the Loo of the Year Awards for the last four years and it’s hoped the revamped facilities will make the top grade in this year’s awards.

Centre manager Medi Parry said: “We certainly pride ourselves on keeping standards high at Sanderson Arcade and upgrading facilities such as the public toilets is an important part of our work.

“The feature walls look great and we’ll definitely be putting our lovely new loos forward for the next Loo of the Year Awards.”
