Staff sickness is on the increase

The North East is slipping in workers’ sickness records, but is still healthier than the national average.

The Sickness Absence Survey shows that five days per person per year are now lost to sickness in the region, with an absence rate of 2.2 per cent, rising from 4.3 days and 1.9 per cent previously. The UK average is 5.3 days.
