BUDDING small business owners can get a helping hand to showcase their products through a new national scheme.
A number of free pitches are going on all of Northumberland’s markets to encourage aspiring traders who are looking to make their mark.
The National Market Traders Federation (NMTF) initiative, called First Pitch, involves candidates submitting an idea for a product or service that they think they can sell at their local market.
Those who are successful can trade on all markets in Northumberland for up to 12 months at discounted rent and are given personalised support from the NMTF.
Its chief executive Joe Harrison said: “First Pitch will give you the support you need to bring a product or service to the market.
“If you’re selected as a finalist, you are given free membership of the NMTF, a free copy of a market trader training guide and a mentor, someone who has a wealth of business and market trading experience.”
The scheme is open to UK residents over 16 with less than six months’ experience of market trading. Interested applicants need to apply by the end of Friday, April 19 via www.nmtf.co.uk
