Three million shoppers can’t be wrong

MORPETH’S award-winning Sanderson Arcade has reached another visitor landmark.

It has topped three million people since it opened its doors to shoppers just 18 months ago.

In June last year the centre celebrated its millionth customer and less than a year later, a further two million shoppers have checked out the stores at the complex.

Centre Manager Debbie Anderson said: “Visitor numbers are increasing on a monthly basis but we were very pleasantly surprised to reach the three million mark at this stage.

“Morpeth is a great place to shop and to visit and we have really noticed that our new stores are bringing shoppers from a much wider area into the town.

“We try hard to bring something different for our shoppers to enjoy and will be launching our summer sounds programme at the beginning of June.”

Since opening in November 2009, the arcade has been highly commended in a number of national awards as well as being named as the best mixed use development in the UK Property Awards last year.

Last month the second phase of the scheme was officially opened.

Three of the four new retailers are trading and the other, Barluga Deli, is set to open in late summer.
