A national marketing campaign to attract people to Northumberland has achieved impressive results.
Part of the VisitEngland led Growing Tourism Locally project funded by the Government’s Regional Growth Fund, the £94,000 initiative has been independently estimated to have inspired significant numbers of new visitors to the county who spent a total of £5.7million while on their holidays.
The purpose of ‘Northumberland’s Active Spirit’ was to encourage visitors to explore the county’s market towns, have a go at some of the activities available at coastal locations and take part in active chilling at one of its country house spas.
VisitEngland estimates that this spending will allow the county’s tourism industry to generate 107 new jobs.
Meanwhile, the next campaign in the programme – Taste of Northumberland – is being launched this week.
