Traders are getting in early to start the celebrations for National Farmers’ Market Week.
Morpeth Farmers’ Market will mark the event on Saturday, despite the awareness week officially running from Sunday.
Morpeth was one of the first towns in the North East to set up such a market, and it is now held in the Market Place on the first Saturday of each month. Everything sold must have been grown, reared, brewed, baked or processed by the trader and sellers of secondary products such as pies or cakes should source local ingredients where possible.
The market runs on Saturday from 9am to 3pm.
