A WILL was a way for a Morpeth solicitors’ office to support a range of charities.
Brumell and Sample raised over £6,000 during the latest Will Aid campaign, where clients could get the legal document drawn up and, instead of paying the firm’s usual fees, were asked to make a donation.
The Bridge Street business has participated in the scheme in previous years and its combined donations to organisations which help those in need in the UK and abroad now total more than £14,000.
One of the Brumell and Sample solicitors, Michael Gaunt, said: “The 2011 Will Aid campaign was a very busy time for us as we prepared over 95 wills for clients.
“We are very pleased to have played our part for the charities and delighted that the people of Morpeth have responded so well.
“Having a will is so important to ensure that your money goes where you want it to go.”
The money raised by legal firms across the UK is being shared between nine charities, Actionaid, Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, NSPCC, Save the Children, SCIAF, Sightsavers and Trocaire.
Will Aid Campaign Manager Shirley Marsland said: “The Will Aid charities are so grateful for the generosity and hard work of the team at Brumell and Sample solicitors.
“This has been the most successful campaign to date and overall we expect to raise more than £2million. The charities will be able to put the money raised to immediate use.”
