TWEAKS have been made to the voting process, and future nominations in an election year, for the Morpeth Civic Awards.
A few concerns were expressed in relation to this year’s event at a town council meeting earlier this year.
The communications group looked into them and came up with two recommendations, which have been approved by members.
The awards are open to any community group working for the benefit of the community, whether they have any political links or not.
But from now on, in a local government election year, any nominations with political links will be referred to the Electoral Commission for advice.
And using the council’s online survey process for the awards will eliminate the problem of only one vote being allowed per IP address.
Deputy clerk Angela Logan said limits would be something like 20 per business and five per household.
