CHILDREN in Northumberland are being recruited for a campaign to help protect birds of prey.
The RSPB is calling on young people to join its Save Birds Of Prey appeal to fund essential equipment, such as GPS units, video cameras, rucksacks, waterproof notebooks and latex gloves.
The kit is used to monitor birds, particularly when they are rearing chicks, and gather evidence against people who persecute them.
Young people are being asked to take part in sponsored activities, such as cycling, hopping or running, or to organise jumble sales to support the appeal.
Everyone who raises money will receive a certificate and stickers.
