Church goes for gold

RESIDENTS can get into the Olympic spirit at Ponteland Methodist Church this Saturday.

People of all ages can enjoy some fun and healthy exercises and games as the church is putting on a demonstration of some 20 activities that regularly take place there.

The Going for Gold event includes taster sessions encouraging residents to join in pilates, yoga, walking, kindermusic, art classes and carpet bowls.

Those attending can also find out more about the Youth Club, Messy Church, Pushchair Club, Girls’ and Boys’ Brigades, Men’s Forum, the Women’s Groups, Sunday Worship, and House and Prayer Groups.

These are church-led or organised by outside bodies that book the hall.

The activities will be held between 10am and 12.30pm in the church building and garden and there will be refreshments and barrel organ entertainment. Entry is free.
