Church’s community room now available

A new facility at a Morpeth church is now being used by various groups.

The most recent phase of the Beacon Project at St Aidan’s Church in Stobhill involved interior works to the extension of the building.

This section is a community room hub – it can hired and used for activities, workshops and meetings – and it adds to the new kitchen and toilets.

The Rector of Morpeth, Rev Simon White, said: “I’m really pleased that this great extension is up and running in the heart of the community.

“The exciting part is ahead as we will be developing new community projects, such as a garden scheme in partnership with Groundwork North East on the grassed area at the front of the building.”

One of the groups using the new room is Playtime Plus for under fives, which meets on Tuesday mornings during term times for playing, singing and crafts.

Children enjoy playing with a wide range of different toys. These can range from floor toys for small babies to a colouring table or cars and a garage for the bigger children.

Plenty of refreshments are provided for the children and parents/carers.
