Churches’ special services

Special services will be held at two Morpeth churches this weekend.

On Saturday, an Ecumenical Evening of Peace will take place at St George’s United Reformed Church in Bridge Street.

The evening will include hymns and readings from the writings of Archbishop Elias Chacour of Galilee, who has spent his life devoted to the cause of reconciliation and equal rights in Israel.

The readings will centre on stories from the Archbishop’s life, some disturbing and some humorous, to give a glimpse into his eastern spirituality.

The event will begin at 6.30pm.

On Sunday, St James The Great Church in Newgate Street will host an All Souls’ Service.

All members of the community are invited to attend to remember the faithful departed, particularly those who have died in the past year.

The service will begin at 6pm. For further information contact the parish office on 01670 503326.
