COLLECTION: Calling for your support
The collection of heritage artefacts and records held by Morpeth Antiquarian Society, the MAS Collection, which is the core of the future Morpeth Museum, is in temporary storage at the Pegswood Uniun Depot, having been displaced from Newbiggin-on-Sea Library when that was closed.
The rent for storage and a little workspace is nearly £500 a month.
MAS has no core grant funding or public sector support and relies on the financial backing of members and supporters.
There is now an urgent and ongoing need for supporters who will commit to regular giving just to keep the collection together and in good condition.
This is in addition to, and perhaps more immediate than, the continuing need to raise capital towards the future museum, which is the focus of Friends of Morpeth Museum.
If people would like to set up a small monthly standing order to contribute to the ongoing rent for storage and care of the MAS Collection, please get in touch and I will supply the details. Note that unlike Direct Debits, Standing Orders are an arrangement between you and your bank and you will not need to give MAS your bank details.
I do hope to hear from you soon. After all, just 100 people donating £5 a month is all that is needed.
