Coming together for community Easter worship

CHURCHES are coming together for Easter events.

A Good Friday service and March of Witness has been organised in Morpeth by the New Life Christian Centre, Morpeth Baptist Church, Morpeth Methodist Church, St George’s United Reformed Church and St Mary Magdalene Church in Mitford.

The service begins at 10am at the Methodist Church, followed by the march from St James’s Church to the Market Place at 11.30am, led by the Salvation Army Band. The churches will then provide tea and coffee.

In Ponteland churches will join for the Raising of the Cross on the Village Green at 2pm.

Easter services are as follows:


St Robert’s RC Church: Friday 10.30am Children’s Stations of the Cross, 3pm; Saturday 7pm; Sunday 9am and 11am.

St George’s United Reformed Church: Friday 10am joint service at Morpeth Methodist Church, followed at 11.30am by March of Witness; Sunday 10.30am.

New Life Christian Centre: as above.

Morpeth Baptist Church: Friday as above; Sunday 10am.

Morpeth Methodist Church: Friday as above; Sunday 8am and 10am.

St Mary Magdalene, Mitford: Friday as above; Sunday 8.30am, 10am and 5pm.

St Aidan’s Church: Sunday 10am.

St Mary’s Church: Friday 10am followed by Procession of Witness; Sunday 10am and 6pm.

St James’s Church: Friday 2pm; Sunday 8am and 10am.


St Mary the Virgin: Friday 10.30am; Sunday 8am, 10am and 6.30pm.

Holy Saviour, Milbourne: Sunday 11.15am.

Ponteland Methodist Church: Friday 11.15am; Sunday 6am at Bolam Lake, 10am and 6.30pm.

St Matthew’s RC Church: Friday 3pm; Saturday 6pm; Sunday 10.30am.

Ponteland United Reformed Church: Friday 10am; Sunday 10am.
