Concern for estate’s green land

TOWN councillors have urged county officials to give more consideration to protecting public land.

Members of Morpeth Town Council’s Planning and Transport Committee were concerned that permission was granted by the county council to turn open space at Rectory Park into a private garden.

The committee has written to the county authority saying such land was acquired by the former Castle Morpeth Borough Council specifically to protect it as open space and ensure there was public amenity land in the estate.
