TOWN councillors have been forced to miss out on planning training as the session clashed with their regular meeting.
Northumberland County Council officers had arranged several training sessions for parish members across the county to brush up on their knowledge of the planning process, but the Morpeth course was scheduled for the same evening as Morpeth Town Council’s Planning and Transport Committee.
Members had called on the county officials to change the date of the Morpeth-based training course, or provide an additional session, so that they would be able to attend.
But the pleas were rejected and the original training date for Morpeth went ahead as planned.
Now the committee has written to the county council to express its disappointment.
Chairman Graeme Trotter said: “It is desperately frustrating. This training day would have been of huge benefit to this committee. There should be more flexibility.”
