COUNTY HALL: Remember the Royal visit?

As a very concerned resident of Morpeth I decided to write a letter to Her Majesty the Queen regarding the decision by Northumberland County Council to demolish County Hall.

Many might find this decision curious.

I am sure you may recall that in July 2001 Her Majesty visited Morpeth and enjoyed a very delightful lunch on July 26 in the county council dining hall. I wanted to inform Her Majesty that Northumberland County Council is planning to pull it down at great expense.

I am calling attention to this interesting fact that may have been forgotten as I do not believe many county council buildings have had the honour of not only having a visit, but also having the Queen dine.

I hope this new information will help to give the county council leaders food for thought and they will re-think about destroying this special building.
