POLICE have made an arrest following three garden-related crimes in Pegswood.

All three incidents happened at around the same time, believed to be the early hours of Tuesday, May 31.

In the first, fence posts and fencing in a garden in Warkworth Drive were pulled out. The posts had been left nearby, possibly waiting to be collected, but officers were informed before they could be taken.

The second incident saw thieves get into the garden of a house in Belsay Close and steal a green Vileda rotary clothes airer, a dark green wooden garden parasol and two hanging baskets — one containing purple, white and yellow trailing pansies and the other mixed petunias.

In the third theft, an apple tree in an aluminium plant pot was stolen from an address in Ellis Square. A hedgehog garden ornament was also taken.

A 27-year-old man from the Blyth area was arrested on suspicion of theft. He has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
