Cars and garages hit

POLICE are appealing for information following two garage burglaries and two thefts from cars in Pegswood and Morpeth.

Overnight between Wednesday, January 18, and Thursday, January 19, thieves broke into a car parked in Hebron Avenue, Pegswood, and stole the stereo from inside and took the roof rack from a Daihatsu Fourtrak that was parked in Duncan Gardens, Morpeth. The roof rack is black with silver aluminium bars across the frame and is valued at £1,000.

A garage door was forced open in Bentinck Crescent, Pegswood, but nothing was stolen. Burglars also got into a garage in Spencer Drive, Pegswood, by smashing the window of a car parked against the garage door, rolling it away from the door, then breaking into the garage.

They stole tools including a Draper socket set, a Ryobi chainsaw and a Clark generator before closing the garage and returning the car to its original position.

Anyone with information can call 101, extension 69191.
