A NORTH East detective has picked up a top national police award.
Detective Constable Cath Easton received the Detectives Award in the Police Federation National Detective Forum awards.
The accolade recognises her skills in putting victims and witnesses at ease to obtain crucial evidence in rape and serious sexual abuse cases.
She has also made a significant contribution to training and developing staff.
She said: “I’m extremely honoured my work has been recognised at a national level as I know my colleagues and I work hard to ensure the needs of victims and witnesses are met.”
Earlier this year DC Easton received the High Sheriff Cup as Northumbria’s outstanding female officer in the force’s excellence awards.
Detective Chief Superintendent Winton Keenen, who nominated her for the national prize, said: “While we in Northumbria are rightly proud of Cath’s contributions to the service we provide to communities, I’m pleased her extensive skills have been recognised in these national awards.”
