Fuel thieves hit businesses

TWO businesses in Morpeth’s Coopies Lane Industrial Estate were hit by fuel thieves over the weekend of Saturday, June 23, and Sunday, June 24.

At one, fuel and a fuel pump were stolen, along with copper piping, hot water tanks and brass.

At the other, 200 litres of diesel was syphoned from two trucks.

Acting Morpeth Inspector Sharon Wilmore-Greaves said: “We’re carrying out a number of pro-active operations in the area to target suspected fuel thieves and these have recently seen some positive results. We’ll continue to work with our partner agencies and the community to tackle fuel thefts in the area.”

Anyone with information about the offences can contact police on 101, extension 69191.
