Man intends to deny murder of Northumberland woman and attempted murder of 15-year-old boy

A man is expected to deny murdering a woman and attempting to murder a 15-year-old boy following in incident in Linton, Northumberland, a court has heard.

Paul Robson, of Stanley Street, Wallsend, appeared before South East Northumberland Magistrates' Court, where he was remanded in custody.

The 49-year-old is charged with murdering Caroline Kayll and attempting to murder a 15-year-old, who cannot be identified for legal reasons as he is a juvenile.

Robson was charged by police on Sunday, November 22, one week after the attack on the Ms Kayll, 47, at an address in Foxcover, Linton.

Sadly Ms Linton later died in hospital.

Northumbria Police said the boy was treated for serious but non life-threatening injuries and has since been discharged from hospital.

A 58-year-old man previously arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has since been released under investigation.

Robson, who is expected to deny the charges, will next appear at Newcastle Crown Court on Wednesday, November 25.
