SUSPECTED poachers were stopped in their tracks in a multi-agency operation.
Police neighbourhood officers joined forces with the Environment Agency, National Park officers and gamekeepers in the overnight Operation Ghillie to stop suspects in the Morpeth and Alnwick areas.
Staff were stationed at key points around the area to keep a look out for suspicious vehicles.
The operation saw four cars stopped, eight people spoken to and a number of lamps seized from suspected poachers.
Morpeth Acting Inspector Dave Simpson said: “We’re well aware of the problems faced by farmers from illegal poachers and have set up schemes, including Gamewatch and Farmwatch, to tackle them.”
