Police appeal after garden centre raid

POLICE are appealing for information after thieves broke into a Ponteland garden centre.

Around £2,500 worth of gardening equipment was taken from Dobbies Garden World, Street Houses, between 5pm on Saturday, January 22, and 8am on Sunday, January 23.

The stolen goods include a Ryobi electric blow vac, three Handy impact shredders, a Ryobi 26cc petrol hedge trimmer, three 26cc petrol strimmers, four Karcher pressure washers, a 2900M pressure washer, 10 Flymo petrol hedge trimmers, a new hardy ecovac, four electric blowvacs and two handy cordless strimmers.

East Tynedale Neighbourhood Inspector Kevin Oates said: “The thieves must have used a vehicle to remove the stolen items and I’d appeal for anyone who was in the Ponteland area on Saturday night or Sunday morning and who saw any suspicious vehicles or people to contact police.”

Anyone with information is asked to telephone officers on 03456 043043 – extension 69191 – or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
