Police’s aim for mature drivers

Northumbria Police is looking for volunteers to take part in a mature drivers initiative in Northumberland.

Officers from the force’s road safety Operation Dragoon team are hoping to hold a focus group session.

The aim of it will be to discuss the issues facing older drivers, get some feedback and ideas around things that police can do to help them and talk about general driving and road safety. Although this is a one-off focus group, the long-term aim is to organise regular drop-in sessions.

Around six volunteers are needed to take part in the initial focus group and anyone aged 70 and over can apply. If there is enough interest, the event will be held at County Hall in Morpeth on a date yet to be decided.
