MORPETH police have praised the public after the Bank Holiday weekend passed relatively trouble-free.
Between Friday and Monday night, just five arrests were made, all for drunk and disorderly behaviour.
Neighbourhood Inspector Alison Best said: “We were pleased that the vast majority of people in Morpeth were sensible and simply came to enjoy themselves over the weekend.
“There were occasions where it was necessary for officers to make an early intervention to prevent the behaviour getting out of hand and escalating into violence.
“This meant those in the town centre could safely enjoy their night out.”
