Teenager attacked and subjected to homophobic abuse near Wetherspoon pub in Blyth
Northumbria Police officers are calling for the public’s help as investigations continue into the attack, which happened on Monday, December 9.
Shortly before 1am that day, police received a report that a 19-year-old woman had been assaulted by two men near to Wetherspoon on Union Street, Blyth.

Hide AdThere was reportedly a verbal altercation between two groups of people, during which homophobic abuse was shouted at the victim and her friends.
She was then punched in the face by one of the men. It is being investigated as a hate crime.
PC David French, the officer leading the investigation, said: “We take crimes of this nature very seriously and we’re appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the assault or has information about the incident to get in touch with us.”
