Warning after car thefts

DRIVERS are being reminded to lock their cars following a spate of thefts.

The latest incident took place in Morpeth when thieves stole two jackets from an unlocked 4x4 vehicle that was parked in the driveway of a house in Green Lane. The theft happened overnight between Tuesday, August 2 and Wednesday, August 3.

Morpeth Neighbourhood Sergeant Dave Simpson said: “Thieves are operating in Morpeth and are targeting vehicles that have been left unlocked.

“I’d advise residents and visitors to the area to make sure their cars are secure if leaving them unattended for any amount of time.
