A GP practice in Morpeth has been highly praised in a new report.

Greystoke Surgery, which is located in the Morpeth NHS Centre, has received an overall Good rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following an inspection.

It was also deemed Outstanding for the ‘Are services responsive to people’s needs?’ section and its care of elderly people.

The practice provides care and treatment to more than 9,000 patients from Morpeth and many of its surrounding villages.

The report includes the following: ‘We saw staff treat patients with kindness and respect and were aware of their responsibilities with regard to maintaining patient confidentiality.

‘Patients said they were treated well and were involved in making decisions about their care and treatment.

‘The practice was taking steps to reduce emergency admissions to hospital for patients with complex healthcare conditions by ensuring these patients had fully comprehensive care plans.

‘Arrangements are in place to support clinical staff with their continual professional development and all staff had received training appropriate to their roles and responsibilities.’

Senior Partner Dr David Ridley said: “We are delighted with this CQC report, which is a credit to our dedicated and hard-working doctors and staff.

“We would also like to thank the patients and Patient Participation Group members for their continued support.”

To help meet future access demands, Greystoke is welcoming a new Partner, Dr Hannah Marshall. She has previously worked at the surgery as a registrar.

In addition, it is also in the process of recruiting a salaried GP.
