The Fair Funerals pledge, launched by Quaker Social Action’s Fair Funerals campaign – – includes their recognition that funerals can be expensive and many of their potential clients would struggle with the cost.

Those who sign it will also commit to helping people find funeral options that are within their means and being open about their most affordable options, including third party costs in initial conversations, within their price lists and on their websites.

Heather Kennedy, Fair Funerals campaigns manager, said: “When we’re grieving, we don’t make savvy consumers, so we really need funeral directors to be open and honest about their prices.

“By signing the pledge, directors can really help people find a funeral they can afford.”

Those that have signed up so far include R. Kinghorn Funeral Directors in Pegswood.
