TRIATHLONS are too tame for some pupils.

Groups of four youngsters at Nunnykirk School for Dyslexia swam for three miles, ran and cycled for six miles and then took part in a 50m three-legged race in a sponsored Quadathlon.

The event was an annual fund-raiser held during National Dyslexia Awareness Week, and this year pupils have collected more than £550 to maintain the school’s karting facilities.

Teacher Ken Smith said: “The pupils get a lot of enjoyment from the karting facilities and the annual Quadathlon is also a great way of getting them to work together and participate in exercise, as well as raising funds.”
