A CONFERENCE organised by Northumberland County Council’s early years and schools’ service has been hailed a success.
The main focus of this year’s event, which was attended by more than 300 delegates over two days at Newcastle Racecourse, was the re-draft of the Early Years’ Foundation Stage that will be implemented in September this year.
This is the framework that all practitioners are required to follow when working with children under five.
The keynote speaker was Dame Clare Tickell, Chief Executive of Action for Children. She discussed her independent review for the Government which looked at how early years provision could be less bureaucratic and more geared to supporting the learning process.
Coun Lesley Rickerby, Executive Member for Children and Young People at Northumberland County Council, said: “The event was a great success as it was an ideal opportunity to celebrate the excellent early years practice from across Northumberland and prepare practitioners for future changes.”
