Elizabeth Ions was made redundant from her position as an IT manager at Northern Rock while on maternity leave and she then became qualified in nutrition and personal training.

When she came across the Tyson Method, she did a course so she could teach these exercises, aimed in particular at women.

She set up a Thursday morning class where mums can bring their baby/toddler with them, then launched a Wednesday evening session where they can bring older children and she also does tailored activities for first school children.

Now she has started a Monday morning class at Morpeth Boys’ Brigade Hall in Manchester Street (10am to 11am) aimed at seniors or grandmas who can bring along their grandchildren.

Ms Ions said: “These sessions are not as intense as my other classes, but they still hold true to the Tyson Method formula for success and so it’s a good option for them to improve their fitness.”
