A PROJECT to raise awareness of the plight of North Sea birds has been given a cash boost.
The North East England Beached Bird Survey Project has been awarded £250 by the Northumberland and Tyneside Bird Club.
Chairman Tom Cadwallender said: “The club was particularly keen to support this project as marine litter is a big problem for our sea birds and we will only resolve it if public awareness is raised.”
Project Co-ordinator Dan Turner welcomed the award.
He said: “This is great news for the project as we can preserve several additional specimens, as well as some wings that we can use for awareness-raising of the beached bird project and marine litter issues in schools and through other talks.”
