Parish council chairman Mark Mather was speaking following their reopening on Monday, June 22.
“We’d like to see some funding allocated by Northumberland County Council going forward to revamp the toilets,” he said. “They are doing it in coastal areas and I don’t see why we can’t get ours done. They’re in desperate need.”
There are a number of changes in place at the toilets.

Posters with the rules have been put up, with social distancing markings outside and the cleaner has new PPE and is attending the site three times a day.”
He thanked Terry Harkins in the county council’s neighbourhood team for his help in ensuring the facilities meet guidelines.
