An activity on the River Wansbeck to encourage young people to take up fishing has once again taken place.
Bailiffs from the Wansbeck Angling Association have been putting brown trout into what is known as the free stretch of the river in Morpeth town centre.
The group receives funding from Morpeth Town Council towards the stocking project.
Wansbeck Angling Association chairman Doug Graham said: “We put as many fish as we can in this stretch so youngsters can enjoy fishing – all they need is an Environment Agency rod licence.
“We are hoping to get sponsorship from supermarkets and smaller businesses in order to increase the number of fish in the river and we can then encourage people to go fishing, as well as shopping, when they come to Morpeth.”
