Spotlight falls on footpaths

PONTELAND’S footpaths will come under the microscope after a new users group was set up by the town council.

Members approved the recommendation of its highways working party that councillors and interested members of the community should come together to discuss them up to three times per year.

Northumberland County Council’s Countryside Rights of Way Officer will be invited to each meeting to hear and report back any concerns.

The town council also agreed the working party’s request to make a submission to the Northumberland authority for it to rectify some erosion and wear and tear on Ponteland Bridge.
