CHARITY supporters in Northumberland can pick up wildflower seeds to scatter in memory of their loved ones.
The World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) has launched its annual Wildflower Appeal whereby packs of Heartsease seeds, a member of the pansy family, are given away in return for a donation.
The seeds have been provided by Chase Garden Organic Seeds and money raised from the appeal will go towards research and education programmes looking into the links between cancer and diet, physical activity and weight.
WCRF Head of Fundraising Paul Fretwell said: “We know from speaking to our supporters that scattering seeds and watching the flowers grow can be a touching tribute to those loved ones they have lost, and many people find it comforting to know that their memorial gift is going towards preventing future cases of cancer by funding scientific research and education programmes that raise awareness of how people can reduce their risk.”
