Monte Carlo came to Morpeth when Morpeth Lions Club held its fifth Charity Casino Night at Riverside Lodge.

The event raised more than £900 for the Great North Air Ambulance Service and Mayor Andrew Tebbutt’s charity, Contact Mental Health.

As well as getting ‘funny money’ to gamble with, the £20 ticket included a tombola featuring 100 prizes to coincide with Lions Clubs International centenary later this year. This meant that everyone received a gift. Supper was included, and the evening finished with a blind auction.

The club is indebted to Riverside Lodge for hosting the event and to Sunderland Lions Club, which provided expertise and equipment. Thanks also go to the many local businesses who provided raffle and blind auction prizes.

The event raised a wonderful sum for these charities.
