Eye-catching poppy picture wins contest

A Morpeth resident scooped first prize in a photography competition run by three North East wildlife trusts.

Ken Nyberg was the overall winner of the contest with his photo of a hoverfly on a poppy.

Nature up Close category winner Ken Nyberg was also the overall winner with his photo of a hoverfly on a poppy, aptly titled Poppy with Hoverfly.

The top prize in the Young Persons category went to another Morpeth resident, 11-year-old Hannah Bishop.

Hannah Bishop secured the top prize in the Young Persons category for her photo of a starling taken on South Beach in Blyth.

Her picture – a starling taken on South Beach in Blyth – was called Greedy Bird.
