A Ponteland family will be taking part in the 2017 Children’s Cancer Run at Newcastle Racecourse.
As in previous years, the event on Sunday, May 21 will raise useful funds for North of England Children’s Cancer Research (NECCR).
Maya Sehgal, from Ponteland, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in December 2012 aged just two.
She received treatment at the Great North Children’s Hospital at the RVI in Newcastle, with support from NECCR, until being given the all-clear at the end of 2015.
Throughout her treatment for blood cancer, Maya’s parents Aman and Nisha – together with friends and family – have fund-raised for the children’s cancer ward and are looking forward to taking part in the run this year with their daughter, now aged six.
The run offers five-mile, three-mile and ‘mini mile’ cross country tracks and is one of the largest single charity run events in Europe.
Stagecoach North East will provide a shuttle service between Metro stations and an enhanced park and ride service.
