The Christmas celebrations in Morpeth started before the lights switch-on as the Coca-Cola truck came to town, along with a market and fairground rides.

Although there has been some criticism of the corporate nature of the famous red vehicle’s visit on social media, a number of families came along last Thursday and Friday to get a picture and enjoy the other attractions.

Over the last eight years, the truck has travelled more than 737,000 miles – the equivalent of 29 times around the world – twinkling its 8,772 fairy lights and playing the iconic Holidays are Coming jingle.

Visitors can get a free 150ml can of either Coca-Cola zero sugar, Diet Coke or Coca-Cola original.
