Formal arrangements have been made for a War Remembrance exhibition at Ponteland Memorial Hall later this year.

The town council was initially looking to make it a week-long event, but following feedback from residents, it will now take place on Saturday, November 8 and Sunday, November 9.

Light refreshments will be available in the hall afterwards to all who attend the Remembrance Day service at the war memorial on the Sunday and they then have the opportunity to view the exhibition.

They will still have the option of joining the march on its return to Ponteland Leisure Centre and they can then head back to the hall straightaway or in the afternoon as the exhibition will run from 10am to 4pm on both days.

The authority also agreed to fund the production of a booklet written by Muriel Sobo, which will be sold at the exhibition.

Meanwhile, the council has approved a recommendation from its environment working party to replace the open litter bin at Fox Covert Lane with a closed combined dog and litter bin.

In addition, a similar bin will be placed in the meadow at Fox Covert.
