FIREFIGHTERS from Northumberland will be setting off on a three-day tour of the county tomorrow to raise money for two worthy causes.
A group of 15 officers from Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service will leave their headquarters in West Hartford on the first leg of the fund-raising Cycle Challenge 2011 that will include a visit to every fire station in the county.
All money raised will be split equally between The Firefighter’s Charity and Help For Heroes.
Last year, the first year the challenge took place, the group raised £3,950 for the same charities.
Craig Ducat, one of the organisers and participants in the Cycle Challenge, said: “We’re looking forward to the tour, which seems to be becoming an annual event.
“With the help of people along the way as well as colleagues at the fire stations we pass through, we hope to raise more money than last year for both charities.”
