Flett and Sander star for Morpeth

Morpeth 1sts had an 81-run win in the Northumberland and Tyneside Senior Cricket League when they faced Whickham 1sts on Saturday.

Morpeth batted first and put on a big score of 224-4 with Sam Flett on 79 not out and James Sander on 77 not out.

Whickham hit 143-4 in reply with Lee Hargreaves on 60.

Meanwhile, Morpeth 2nds went down by a hefty 167 runs away to Whickham 2nds.

Ian McIntyre top scored with 115 as Whickham posted 249-9 in their 45 overs.

Joe Carrick took 4-26 for Morpeth, who in reply could only muster 82 with Ryan Hope netting 26.

Thomas Hodgson took 4-29 for Whickham.

Ponteland 1sts won by five wickets at home to Lanchester.

Lanchester were all out for only 63, with Niall Penfold taking a fine 5-7.

This was an easy target for Pont, who replied with 64-5 in less than 18 overs.

In the Northumberland Premier League, Blagdon Park went down by 54 runs against title-chasing Tillside. Tillside posted 134 in their innings, with Blagdon hitting 80 in reply.

Ulgham 174-7) lost by 69 runs against Corbridge who opened with 243.
